During the initial consultation many patients state that they want very dramatic, very obvious breast implants that are high up on their chest ~ or what is commonly refer to as the “exotic dancer” breast.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a “look” or surgically possible to obtain. Women who have very little breast tissue typically also have no or very little breast droop (breast ptosis), therefore when these patients undergo breast implant surgery their breasts can naturally result in a higher and fuller upper pole since their breast shape is determined significantly by the underlying breast implant.
Women who have a great deal of breast tissue will typically have breasts that are lower on their chest wall. Therefore, when undergoing breast implant surgery, their implant will be in the same position vertically where their current breast is located.
A breast lift cannot correct this. Breast lift surgery changes the position of the nipple on the breast. It positions and centralizes the nipple in a better position on the breast as well as tightens loose skin thereby taking away the appearance of a drooping breast. A breast lift does not change the position of the base of your breast on your chest wall as your breast base is fixed.
What can be done
A patient wishing for more upper pole fullness can choose a higher profile implant or a shaped breast implant that is taller in height; however, these implants are not right for everyone.
Please note that your cosmetic surgery will be custom tailored to your unique needs, individual results and recovery instructions may vary.
