What Are The Most Popular Breast Implants used At Dr. Avi Islur’s Practice, Silicone Gel-Filled, or Saline?
The most popular type of implants used at Dr. Avi Islur’s practice are silicone gel-filled, smooth shell, round breast implants (also called “gummy bear” implants).
Saline filled breast implants are an option for your breast augmentation, however, saline implants tend to have more complications such as rippling and a firmer feel when lying on your chest.
Dr. Avi Islur offers a new saline filled implant called the Ideal Implant that has many of the characteristics of a silicone gel-filled implant. It’s a good option for patients who specifically request saline filled breast implants. Saline implants only come in one type of projection (similar to a high profile or full projection). Saline offers some peace of mind for patients wanting to know immediately if their implants have ruptured as they will immediately decrease in size. With a silicone gel-filled implant the rupture rate, although very low, is considered a “silent” rupture as no change in size occurs and only a diagnostic test like a mammogram or MRI of the breast can detect it.
