02 Full Tummy Tuck

A Full Tummy Tuck is the most common type of tummy tuck surgery performed by Dr. Islur. Excess fat, stretch marks, and loose skin — just above and completely below your belly button will be removed and your belly button is repositioned on your newly tightened midsection.

This procedure is great for women who have lost weight or have stretched abdominal muscles and loose skin from being pregnant.

After giving birth most women are left with separated abdominal muscles, a common post-pregnancy problem called diastasis recti. As a result, your belly can continue to pop out and make you look 4-6 months pregnant even if you have already lost all the baby weight.

Should I be at my Ideal Weight Before my Surgical Consultation?

Basing your ideal weight on Body Mass Index (BMI) only serves as a guide.

However, it is important not to be carrying moderate or excess amounts of visceral (aka internal) fat as this cannot be removed surgically. This is fat that surrounds your organs (bowels and liver) and causes a round contour to your abdomen.

Wondering if you have moderate or excess amounts of Visceral Fat? You can assess this by a few methods:

when standing do you have a round contour to your abdomen on profile? Does it change much when you “suck in”?
when you lie down does your abdomen fall below the level of your ribs?
If you answered “round” and no to the other two questions you likely are carrying excess amounts of visceral fat and it would be recommended to lose weight to achieve a desirable outcome. The good news is that this weight is the first weight to be lost through diet and exercise.

It is also important to be living a healthy lifestyle and being at a weight you can maintain (within 5 pounds) without crash dieting or exercising.

Is Tummy Tuck Recovery Equally as Painful as C-Section Recovery?
